How to backup Tally.ERP 9 Data Online Automatically

We faced this weird problem for several times. This was like, Client’s Tally.ERP 9 installed computer/laptop got to steal or somehow the computer hard drive crashed, and eventually the client lost all of their Tally.ERP 9 data! Holy shit!

As Tally.ERP 9 is a desktop base software, and officially Tally Solutions doesn’t store any of your business data to their server (even if you use Tally.ERP 9 online using Tally.net! Tally.ERP 9 online works on Computer 2 Computer connection system). So if your backup data got to steal or crashed, we have nothing to do to recover until you have the backup somewhere else.

After facing the problem for several times for some clients, we have introduced a new system to all of them to backup their Tally.ERP 9 data online automatically, using the most secured online data-storage  services like Dropbox, Google Drive or Copy.com. The system we have introduced is pretty simple, and you have nothing to do extra to backup it online!

After setting up the system, all of our clients are now headache free, and they don’t need to be worried about their Tally.ERP 9 data and security. How did we do that? OK, if you are using Tally.ERP 9 for your business, you can use the system we are using, following the tutorial.

Step 1: Select the online data-storage  service you like to use

There are several online data-storage  services available online; however, our recommended service is Dropbox, Google Drive or Copy.com. If you have a Gmail account that means you already have the Google Drive account as well. For Dropbox and Copy.com, you must have to create account first, and it’s free. Creating account to all the services is not required. You just have to select only one service you want to use store your Tally.ERP 9 data online.

Step 2: Install Automatic Data Backup Software

The online data-storage  services we have recommended above are having software which automatically syncs all of the data between your computer and the online server. If you have chosen using Dropbox, you can download the Dropbox software from here, and Google Drive and Copy.com software is here and here.

Install the software on your computer now; however, while installing, please select the installation drive out of C:

Step 3: Create a folder on named Tally Backup

After completing setting up the service (whatever you want, doesn’t matter whether it’s Dropbox/Google Drive or Copy.com). You have to create a new folder named ‘Tally Backup’ on your installed folder.

Step 4: Backup Your Tally Data on ‘Tally Backup’ Folder

Now this is the final step, and this one has to be done every time while taking the Tally.ERP 9 data backup. It’s simple, all you have to select ‘Tally Backup’ folder to store the backup file!

HURRAH YOU ARE DONE!

Your data will automatically be uploaded to online! You can download the backup anytime from anywhere in the world, and restore it whenever you want.
